Itinerary Detail

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and receive a full briefing on your safari as we start our safari by driving to Hell’s Gate National Park which lies to the south of Lake Naivasha, Northwest of Nairobi. The park, which is mainly comprised of savannah ecosystem harbors a wide variety of wildlife. There are over 100 species of birds, including vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzard and swifts. African buffalos, zebras, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and baboons are also common. Depart in the afternoon to Lake Naivasha which is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes. Lake Naivasha is yet another area popular for bird watching (over 400 species have been recorded here). It is also a favorite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents, who come here to sail, water ski and fish. There are no crocodiles in the lake as the water is too cold for them, due to altitude but there are a number of hippos. Along the lakeshore, vineyards produce grapes for the country’s fledgling wine industry. Return to your resort or Lodge for dinner and overnight.

After Breakfast pick up by your driver guide and depart for the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will enjoy hot lunch in Narok. On arrival in the reserve, you will proceed on a game drive, tracking various animal species and birds with your driver-guide. Later, your guide will take you back to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay at camp or Lodge.

After breakfast, we will have a full-day game drive with a packed lunch provided. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions and its abundant resident wildlife. It’s one of the few places where it’s possible to see the Big Five during a morning’s game drive. Many cheetahs seek shelter from the hot sun under one’s vehicle and even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey. For bird enthusiasts, almost 500 species have been recorded among these, 16 species of eagles, many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 of bustards (including the kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds. After the full-day game drive, come back to the camp or Lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, enjoy a special cultural moment by visiting the Maasai people in their nearby villages with an English–speaking guide. Later, you will leave the Maasai Mara region with an en-route lunch. You’ll arrive in Nairobi late in the afternoon, where you will be dropped off at the airport or your Nairobi hotel.
